What Items Can I Toss?

When you have a major cleaning project at hand, Toss-It can help you get the dumpster you need to get the job done. We make it easy to reserve your dumpster and deliver them right to your doorstep! Before you start tossing, though, it’s important to know what you can toss in the first place. We’ve got your complete guide to what you can and cannot toss when you work with Toss-It.

What to Toss

First things first: what CAN you get rid of? If you’re using our dumpster services for basic cleanup around the house, you’re safe to toss nearly anything. Any common household items that would normally go into the garbage are fine to go into our dumpsters as well.

You might be wondering about larger items that you wouldn’t be able to discard in a typical trash can, like mattresses or tires. These items are more than welcome in our dumpsters! If you ever have any concerns about what you want to get rid of, just reach out to our team and we’ll let you know how we can help.

If you’re working on flipping a house or taking part in a big construction project, our dumpsters are perfect for keeping your workspace full of dirt and debris. All of the demolition can be handled by just tossing it! We also have plenty of clients who use Toss-It to get rid of dirt, particularly in construction projects. If your project involves digging up trees or bushes, you can also use Toss-It to take care of your landscaping materials.

What Not to Toss

Not everything can be tossed into our dumpsters. There are a few items that hold specific disposal directions according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and unfortunately, we’re not able to accept these items.

If you’re looking to get rid of paint, we’re not able to accept any cans that still contain liquid paint. However, dry paint cans are fine to toss. We are also unable to accept potentially hazardous materials such as propane tanks, various chemicals, freon, solvents, and any equipment containing oil or gas.

Does your project involve medical waste or other bio-hazardous materials? If so, we’re not able to help you with disposal. Look for further resources from the EPA to learn more about safe disposal practices.
